The month of October is Black History Month - an annual month of reflecting on Black History and celebrating Black Excellence. We hope to provide exposure for small black-owned businesses, that are both inspiring and innovative, whilst celebrating their successes. Tahar Mind and Body

Tahar Mind and Body is a small business which specialises in handmade bath and body products.

Its owner says: “I am a mother of 3 who started learning how to make soaps whilst on maternity leave as a means of having something to do before falling in love with the craft and deciding to go into business.

I make natural and sensitive soaps for healing and nurturing purposes whilst providing fun, colourful & fragrant soaps. I also make other kinds of bath, body & aroma products such as whipped soaps, body butters, candles, wax melts, shampoos and more.”

Cassiscreative

Cassiscreative is a small business located in the West Midlands. They focus on spreading positivity, hope and encouragement through everything they do. They launched in December 2019 and have clients and customers both locally and internationally. They sell books, bookmarks, key rings and notebooks - to name a few. They even do customisations and help aspiring authors to write and publish their first book via their masterclass and guided workbook.

KC Concepts

KC Concepts have launched Bristol’s first black-owned business pop-up shop, which provides a business platform for over 40 black-owned businesses. The shop is located on the ground floor in The Galleries, Bristol until 14th November, so be sure to head down there and support local black-owned businesses. The store features items such as clothing, jewellery, beauty products, art and more.

Nittie Meikova is an international make-up artist that takes care of makeover services for all occasions and events.

Anatrey’s owner, Leandra, a 27-year-old currently living in Bristol, says her business is about handmade soap that targets various skin conditions which caters for deep melanin to fair skin. Leandra had problems in the past and tried a lot of products with no effect, even seeing dermatologists with no result. It was something that was affecting her confidence as time went by. She travelled to the Ivory Coast for a holiday and met a dermatologist who has over 42 years of experience. He suggested some products that she could use, and so she decided to create a soap that aims to treat these skin conditions.
