Welcome to our blog - a Safe Space for change.
Safe Space is exactly what it says on the tin. A safe space to raise awareness on important social, legal, environmental, individual issues. Safe Space aims to be an inclusive blog which provides a platform for anyone and everyone to be able to voice their opinions, experiences and perspectives.
Please contact us if you are interested in contributing to a blog.
I founded this blog back in 2020 (formerly SOPH TALKS). I am a law PhD student and my thesis critically examines the role of police interviews when questioning victims of rape. I am also an Associate Lecturer on a number of Law and Criminal Justice modules at a university. Criminal justice is my passion in life and my job allows me to critically discuss a number of legal and social issues. But, I am also passionate about all things human rights, feminism, mental health, sustainability, and more. This blog has allowed me to discuss such topics outside of an academic setting.
I hope that you enjoy these thought-provoking and engaging topics as much as I do!
I joined the blog as a co-owner in 2022 after working with Sophie for a year, but I have previously contributed to this blog in 2021 (previously known as SOPH TALKS). I am a Lecturer in Criminology, and my passion is using research/blogs to highlight issues of racial bias in the criminal justice system and forensic science. But more importantly, I want to highlight how we can mitigate these issues moving forward. Besides my research interests, I am interested in using this safe space to normalise conversations about mental health.
